Osmosis

2010
Installation

Mounds of fake snow/ice (Sodium Polyacrylate) with soft glowing internal lights. Also polyacryalite balls of different sizes as a separate installation.
This material can absorb and retain extremely large amounts of a liquid relative to their own mass.
Osmosis is the movement of water molecules through a selectively- permeable membrane.
Osmosis releases energy, and can be made to do work. The energy which drives the process is usually discussed in terms of osmotic pressure.
Osmosis is the passage of water from a region of high water concentration through a semi-permeable membrane to a region of low water concentration.
